Things are going well. Routine water changes are being completed, and water chemistry is checked weekly. Shout out to Erin Gaglias and Patrick Robertson for keeping up with the water chemistry and water changes every week. The trout are growing very quickly, and there are a great deal of survivors from the huge die off that had occurred. The total dead is: 534 fish, with the last recorded death on 2/23/15. The fish range in size from ¾ inch to ½ inch in length. The larger fish have distended stomachs, showing that they are eating properly. One fish has even eaten another whole, with the tail of the smaller trout hanging out of the larger trout’s mouth. A picture of this can be seen below!!
We will be releasing the trout on Earth Day, April 22, 2015 in the Otis Wildlife Preserve in Calverton, NY.
